Dr. Stanton gave me a second chance. I was 16 when I was diagnosed with a bone tumor in my right femoral neck. This tumor took up 70% of my femoral neck. I was at high risk of losing the ball in my hip. This tumor was not a typical tumor pathologists were dumbfounded that this particular tumor was eating up my bone because it have never been seen before in the bone it was found often in the brain. This was all new!! I had my first and second operation at the children’s institute in Wilmington Delaware. Dr. Stanton was so kind. He made me feel safe and comfortable. He made my scared parents feel the same. As a 16/17 year old kid they were more scared than I was. All I cared about was getting it done and over with to get back on the ball field and start running again. And most importantly to be able to dance at my senior prom. The first surgery Dr Stanton removed the tumor. The second surgery he did a bone scrape and acid wash. Kills the good and bad cells. Then he placed a rode down my femur with 5 screws and then ran a bolt through my femoral neck to the ball of my hip. I was placed in a body cast and then had much PT. I made it to prom! I walked the graduation line! I’m now 42. I have 7 beautiful children. I have a beautiful wife and my career has us living our best life in Nashville Tennessee. 25 years I’ve had this crazy looking contraption in and on my hip. 25 years not an issue. 25 years no pain. I still run and play and do things I probably shouldn’t. I have been able to carry my passion of sport on with my 7 kids and we stay very active! I still go in for annual check ups. Never missed one. The thing looks the same as it did 25 years ago! Long shot doc but maybe you still have the VOLS and Gator painting I gave you! My opinion best Doctor on this planet. Thank you for fixing me up to live my life. Go VOLS! William Dale
