Dr. Varghese was referred to my husband as to go-to surgeon for heart valve surgery. He is the complete package. In addition to his highly regarded technical expertise, he is warm and compassionate, a clear communicator and has an even temperament. At the pre-surgery visit, after going through the diagnosis, plan and expectations with us in great detail, he surprised us by offering to pray for us (after we indicated that we’re Christians). Especially as a first-time surgery patient and family, that gave us great comfort. We were also very impressed by his confidence, humility and understanding. A shout-out to his wonderful team as well – Armita, his attending, Amanda, his assistant, and Richard, his nurse practitioner. Their responsiveness and good judgment made the whole experience (from pre-surgical to post-surgical) a much less unnerving experience than it could have been. At our post-surgical meeting, per Dr. Varghese: “Once you’re a patient with us, you’re always our patient.'
