A CT in McK-Will ER showed an inflamed appendix and Dr. Russi was the surgeon on call. He overruled the original radiologist, who said I needed an emergent appendectomy (which at the time could have resulted in much of my colon being taken out), and saw instead that the main problem was an enlarged, inflamed cecum and high white count. Two days of IV antibiotics had me feeling fine. Amusingly, I am very grateful to him for not doing surgery on me (but if I ever end up needing it, I would trust him to do it well).
