Dr. Varma is a very competent psychiatrist who thinks about her patients in their totality. She doesn’t jump to conclusions. She reaches diagnostic conclusions after thoroughly analyzing physical, psychological, social and medication-induced causes of a person’s complaints. This takes time and sometimes requires consultation with other professionals. She is not a pill pusher. She has a healthy reluctance towards prescribing controlled substances. She does not take insurance, but neither are you given a cookie cutter, diagnosis and treatment recommendation. What you can expect is thorough competence. Mental health is precious and the loss of mental health is extremely expensive. I have visited mental health professionals for over 45 years. She is absolutely top-notch. I recommend her highly..
