Dr. Stephen Laga operated on my ascending aortic aneurysm, and a separate surgery on my descending aortic aneurysm. My ascending aorta measured to be 60mm at the day of my surgery, though a cardiologist at Mercy Hospital told me it was only 50mm, "It is stable, we will see you in 1 year and repeat your CT angiogram". Dr. Laga told me that I would have never lived the year out, that my very large, 60mm aneurysm would have ruptured within the year. Dr. Laga saw me everyday in the hospital, took time to draw diagrams, and answer all of my many questions, and was very reassuring. I feel that he saved my life. His bedside manner is excellent, and he is a very skilled surgeon. He was trained under the pioneers of open heart surgery at Baylor, specifically Dr. Michael DeBakey. I would highly recommend Dr. Laga to anyone who finds they need cardiac surgery. My husband may need cardiac care, and we will be asking Dr. Laga to help us with him.
