Dr Steven M Block was my anesthesiologist for the replacement of my right hip. He did a great job listening to my concerns on the call the night before surgery and in pre-op. I am extremely sensitive to narcotics - I learned that during my knee replacement. I need the absolute minimum to be able to get going with the recovery program; far less than would normally be indicated. I woke up and was lucid in post-op, able to communicate well with the nurses and techs. This allowed for a speedy recovery. Remember; you are responsible for the outcome of your surgery, it is your responsibility to communicate clearly and effectively with the members of your team, such as your anesthesiologist, surgeon, nurses, therapists and tech.
