I know Dr Cohen from his time at Chicago Medical School where he was a classmate of my ex-wife. He had a serious commitment to medicine and the care of challenging patients. He was a serious fan of popular music, and was the first person I knew who recognized Bruce Springsteen as "The Boss" even in the 1970s. He had a captivating sense of humor, and a fervent respect for his family's cultural and religious traditions. I remembered Stu in the context of an article in todays' New York Times about Kinky Friedman of Texas Jewboy fame. Stu was the first person who introduced me to the sarcasm and humor of the band even before leaving Chicago in 1978.
