Patient Reviews
Nov 02, 2024
Dr. Schmitt performed an intense surgery on me called the Whipple procedure on August 7, 2024, and kept me in a special section of KU hospital until he had the staples out and released me to go home. His care did not stop at the hospital but he and his team of experts managed to make sure the various KU nurses keep coming to my home to check my vitals, diet, exercise and to be sure I could withstand the surgery. Dr. Schmitt continues his care by following my treatment at the oncology office of Dr. Beeki through my chart.Dr. Schmitt’s ability and thorough knowledge about pancreatic tumors, cancer and my age all went into his decision of whether or not to proceed with the Whipple no procedure. He did not go into the decision lightly but rather had multiple conversations with my family and me. He has saved my life and I have been blessed to spend more time with my my family and look forward to much more thanks to the incredible work of Dr. Schmitt.

Board Certifications
What’s a board certification and why is it important that my provider has one?

A board certification represents a provider’s dedication to ongoing training in one or more specialties, including the completion of intensive exams. While not all specialties have board certifications, if your provider does have one they’ve taken the extra step to master their specialty and to keep up with the latest advancements in their field.
