Let me begin by saying that I have had major surgery four times now in my life, and with three of those times, I woke up during the surgery. This was an enormous fear of mine going into the fourth surgery, but Dr. Teng called me the night before and talked with me for about half an hour listening to my concerns, deducing what the problem was, and coming up with a plan to make sure that I stayed under. For the first time ever, I went to sleep after getting into position on the operating table and woke up in post-op. He was professional and caring from the moment I got into the pre-op waiting area with him all the way through when I woke up again and he dropped by to wish me luck.
