Dr. Birkenhagen is a great surgeon and an outstanding and caring man. He has treated myself and many members of my family. He not only listens to his patients, he genuinely cares about their wellbeing. He does not chose surgery as a first option and I have never doubted or been dissapointed with his medical decisions. I along with many friends and family were saddened to receive his retirement letter. He will be very difficult to replace and I wish him the very best.
