I have known Dr. Whang for years. He helped me with self injury and suicidal thoughts and being inpatient many times. He also was the one who has done the ECT for a long time now too, but he has never given up on me and he treats me with respect and honesty. He works WITH me on my recovery journey, and doesn’t act as if he has all the answers and if I don’t like it too bad. No, he has the respect and compassion to ask me what I think will help and ultimately we work together not just him telling me. He treats me as a person and not just his next appointment. He also though, will do what’s necessary to keep me safe, even if I don’t agree or want whatever it is that he decides. I trust him and have high respect for him. I also enjoy his jokes while at ECT… it helps my anxiety settle down.
