Dr. Wahl saved my life when I was admitted to UM Hospital in April 2008 with a gangrenous gallbladder abscess. She successfully removed it with an open cholecystectomy, repairing my common bile duct (CBD) enough so a stent was placed into the CBD instead of having more surgery. She saw me the next day and discovered my surgical team was giving me the wrong IV antibiotics! The mortality rate for this surgery is 17.8% and if I'd developed sepsis it would be 33.3%. She's awesome!!
