The weight of the world felt like it was on our shoulders as we sat across from Dr. Thorell. We were facing a difficult medical situation, one that had left us feeling scared and uncertain. It wasn't that he sugarcoated anything, he didn't. He laid out the realities of my husbands condition with honesty and clarity. He had this incredible ability to explain complex medical jargon to my husband who is not in the medical field in a way that he could understand, patiently answering every question, no matter how trivial it might have seemed. He saw beyond the diagnosis, beyond the test results. He saw my husband as a 57-year-old guy, the person, with fears and hopes and a life that extended beyond the walls of the exam room. Our children are still in early adulthood, and me as his wife can never thank him enough. Two other physicians had given us no hope. Dr. Thorell, in our experience, is the embodiment of a great doctor is and should be
