Dr. Hammonds is personable and very experienced with surgery. As long as he understands the question, he gives a good answer. If he doesn’t understand the question, it seems best to say “can you explain this in a non-doctor way?” (He is one of those doctors that uses lingo and will explain if you don’t understand, but you have to speak up for him to explain better). Go in with your top 2-3 questions as he seems to appreciate efficiency. Everything else I sent as a “MyChart” portal message and it was answered within a day’s time.His cataract booklet is incredible and educational. Anyone who left the previous review about him being ‘salesy’ didn’t read the take-home and mailed materials. While the options seemed overwhelming, he explained all the lens and surgery differences at the initial cataract consult appointment. He then did both of my cataract surgeries (I chose laser-assisted and a multifocal lens). It took a few days to see clearly, as he said it would. I highly recommend him!
