Gary was my primary counselor during my inpatient stay at Sacred Heart. You just get a good vibe from him & can tell he wants and means only the best intentions for you. He told me once that he finds me extremely intriguing due to the fact it's hard to read me from my personality traits and demeanor like you can with some people as soon as you see them. If you get assigned to his group be ready for REAL counseling sessions not just a video and done. We got into some deep content a lot of the times and he does that I believe so he can sense any sort of past trauma or other factors that helped contribute to your drug or alcohol addiction. This is embarrassing but I'm here to be honest lol so here we go; the first time I met Gary he was a substitute for my primary counselor. I happened to be sitting in the chair next to him. Btw I'm on methadone medication assisted treatment, well the Methadone must've been at its peek because I literally nodded out and my head slumped onto his shoulder! He kept his professional composure tho and just lightly pushed my head back up and asked the other group members what's wrong with me. "He's on methadone" and no more was needed to be said. I believe that perhaps the brand of methadone that sacred heart uses was different brand than what I was getting from my regular clinic. But he never shunned me or made me feel less than for that happening we just moved along like it never happened. Gary really cares about his clients and seems to enjoy his profession and that at least for me makes a huge difference with how I can relate to a psychologist. He's there to help not just there for a paycheck. Ryan Hardin.
