I saw Dr. St Charles once a week or so for several months to talk about a wide range of 'trouble spots.' Sometimes I would talk about things that were bothering me even though I had no expectation that there was a 'fix' -- I just thought it would be helpful to have him listen to me. But he could always find a new insight. I'm not talking about platitudes. I mean REAL insight, a REAL ability to connect what I was thinking and feeling to a concept that I could act on. He explored, questioned, suggested, even validated or challenged...always respectfully and helpfully. I found him very effective. I had sought him out because I wanted to see someone who could connect to me as a grown man with a family, someone who could help me take new action. And he was very effective at what I needed.
