Dr. Ackerman is the real deal. I have the utmost respect for him. He is a very honest, compassionate and genuine person who takes helping people seriously. I was being mislead into believing I needed a psych evaluation for a court case. He listened to my situation, HEARD and SAW me and told me that I did not need this service and that he would not waste my time or my money. He encouraged me, told me hard truths (one’s I hadn’t been told or thought of) but needed to hear and gave me advice on what to do next, asked me to follow up with him and told me he would give me more advice if needed. I cried for half the session because I haven’t been heard or seen in a long time. He believed me and spoke directly to and validated the hurting areas that have been ignored and overlooked by others who should’ve help but caused more damage. I needed his encouragement because now I can move forward and began to heal. He may not know how much of an impact he made during our session, but I am thankful.
