I needed some help with stress while caring for a terminally ill loved one & suffering that loss. It was a challenging time due to Covid plus dealing with some of my own 'complex' health challenges. We had to move ourselves & our loved one, to other locations, several times & I lost my job. It was great to have someone to talk to. I did not want to unrealistically, overburden my friends with my problems, especially since they had their own problems to deal with. Susan was a low pressure, kind, active listener. She did not give me advise such as, 'you need to do A,B and C), as much as she helped lead me into finding what worked best for me. I never felt judged or embarrassed. I had some experience with using psychology where I worked so I knew about cognitive therapy. Still, I needed the gentle reminders to use it myself. In the end I would call Susan Johannsen, not only a highly skilled counselor but I would also call her a really dear friend that I can totally trust. She truly cares.
