You know, it's tough to describe the intimate relationship a client has with a therapist. I would run into Tom in a local coffee shop or an Asian buffet. In session we would plumb the closest guarded secrets of my inner self and yet outside of that clinical space I felt, what? Ignored, shunned. Maybe that's Tom's way of protecting himself or maintaining a professional distance. I liked Tom a lot. I respected him as a human being. I wanted more. Maybe that's my problem. Maybe not.
