answer
Simple additions to enhance the nutrition in your hot cereal:
  • fresh fruit such as berries, apples, banana
  • chopped nuts especially almonds and walnuts
  • flaxseed meal
  • wheat germ
  • cinnamon powder
  • nut butter
  • dairy/dairy alternative beverage such as soy milk, almond milk
Instead of making it sweet, add chopped/cooked vegetables, eggs/tofu/lentils/beans (lean protein), spices such as cumin, turmeric, ginger, garlic and make it a delicious ethnic breakfast.
