It is generally safe to use a neti pot when you're pregnant. In fact, by using a neti pot to rinse your nasal passages, you may get some relief from allergy or cold symptoms without having to take any medication.
You can use warm saltwater or a store-bought saline solution with a neti pot. If you're pregnant and choose to use saltwater, make sure that the water is distilled, sterilized, previously boiled for one minute and cooled, or has been filtered, using a filter with an absolute pore size of 1 micron or smaller. This is to help prevent infection by a parasite known as naegleria, which is found in warm freshwater and soil, among other places, and enters the human body through the nose.
