Call the doctor's office to determine if laboratory tests or diagnostic tests are performed there. Many internists and family practice physicians have blood drawn at the office and the samples are sent out for readings.
Some physician offices do have the capacity to do lab tests. Large medical groups, especially, may have a fully equipped and staffed clinical lab. Most physicians, however, will send their clinical lab work to outside labs that are typically better equipped, better staffed, fully accredited and independent of the physician’s control. There has always been some question about the quality of physician “in-office” labs.
