With oil, even olive oil, the hidden calories can add up fast, sabotaging your weight loss. Since all oil is 120 calories per tablespoon, it is a substance you want to use in minimal amounts. When you do choose to use oil on your salad or in your cooking, use only a teaspoon per person. It is part of the process of gradually reducing calories from low-nutrient foods and replacing them with calories that have a higher nutrient value.
