answer
Chemically the difference lies in the location of the double bonds, which in Omega 3 is between the 3rd and 4th carbon atom, and between the 6th and 7th carbon atoms in Omega 6. Omega 3 fatty acids are very beneficial in preventing heart disease, have anti-inflammatory benefits and can help to lower blood pressure. Where Omega 6 fatty acids are great for the skin and lowering blood cholesterol. These two fatty acids work together in aiding the heart and brain, and a lot of these benefits overlap between the two. However, it is important to note that Omega 6 fatty acids tend to be consumed more regularly in the typical American's diet due to them being found in meats. In addition, Omega 6 fats can be found in vegetable oils and seeds, whereas Omega 3 fats are found more in fish, walnuts and canola oil.
