Will insurance cover breast reduction surgery? For the vast majority of patients that I see,
insurance companies do cover breast reduction surgery. This does assume that the patient has large breasts, that these large breasts do cause
physical symptoms, which can predictably be alleviated by reducing the breast size, and that the patient has tried
other means of alleviating the symptoms, such as backache, shoulder aches, breast pain. Once all the symptoms have been documented
and that trying other means to reduce those symptoms or alleviate those symptoms have been documented
to have not worked, most insurance companies today do allow or will approve breast reduction surgery.
This, though, is on a case by case basis and does require that the patient have this submitted to insurance per their insurance policy.
