When considering cosmetic surgery, it is absolutely essential to do your homework and your due diligence.
There are many factors you have to look into. Number one, the doctor needs to be a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
There are no substitutes-- board-certified, plastic and reconstructive surgery. Number two, the doctor needs to have hospital privileges
at a level one trauma center. I'm an attending surgeon at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. You need to have privileges in case
there's an emergency so that the doctor will be able to take care of you for severe bleeding or infection immediately. So if they're not board-certified plastic
surgeons, they're not going to have hospital privileges. You need to run. Number three, you need to look at their malpractice. You need to go to the medical board website
and look at their record, to look that they have lawsuits, and to look at exactly what their history is. And number four, specific to the type of operation
you're hoping to have, make sure that board-certified plastic surgeon specializes in that surgery you want.
If the doctor only does 25 rhinoplasties a year and specializes in facelifts, I would
go to a different surgeon. Look at their website. Look and make sure they have hundreds of before and after pictures of the surgery
that you want to have done. Those are the important factors to look at. [AUDIO LOGO]
