Here's the truth about three common fears when it comes to colonoscopies. Fear number one, it'll hurt.
Most colonoscopies are done under mild sedation, so you don't feel a thing. Fear number two, the prep is a pain.
OK, it's true. The preparation for a colonoscopy is a little inconvenient, but your colon needs to be as clean as a whistle
so your doc has an unobstructed view. Try to schedule your procedure for a Monday morning so you can spend Sunday around the house.
Fear number three, you're scared they'll find something. Colon polyps are super common. Up to half of adults have at least one in their lifetime.
Most are either non- or precancerous or in the early treatable stages of gastrointestinal cancer. Your doctor will remove any polyps that
turn up during the colonoscopy. And don't you want that? So stop putting off your colonoscopy. Make that appointment and get it over with.
