Orthotics & Prosthetics Kids Physical Therapy
Physical therapy at Children's Hospital of Atlanta is lifespan care, says therapist Colleen Coulter. Therapy grows and develops just as the children do.
Transcript
I'm a designated physical therapist in the Orthotics and Prosthetics department. What's beautiful about us here and working with children
is we anticipate lifespan care. So all of our activities are very developmentally appropriate. And we follow the children, not every
single week, but we follow them in episodes. So they're learning to walk and getting new prostheses, we maybe see them for a couple
of sessions. Then as a child grows, we work with the school therapist or the day care providers to make sure that the activities you
need to support walking or running are incorporated into those environments. They get a new prosthesis or the children have surgery,
then we see them again just to get them used to the new prosthesis and get them walking again. So we're in and out of their lives
