The most common complications of a hysterectomy are infection and bleeding. Usually patients get antibiotics before the surgery,
and only if they had a lot of bleeding would they ever need a blood transfusion. And that's oftentimes rare. Other complications of a hysterectomy are damage to bowel, bladder, internal organs,
things where you're operating. They tend to be rare, but if they do happen, they can have severe consequences.
