What are the challenges competing with fast food?
One of the reasons fast food is often so tempting is that it can be cheaper than making healthy nutrition choices. In this video, HealthMaker Ellie Hollander talks about the challenges this presents.

Over 30% of the folks that we serve Meals on Wheels to are already nursing home eligible.
But we're able to keep them in their own homes because they're getting that daily meal and that social connection and a safety check.

The fact that there may be a fast food restaurant in the neighborhood may be easier to get to, more accessible, and obviously much cheaper,
often, than going if you had the option to get a healthy meal someplace else.
The good news is that many of our Meals on Wheels recipients aren't able to access fast food because many of them
are homebound. And they need assistance with just basic tasks that you and I take for granted, like bathing
or grooming or getting dressed. They need assistance in doing that.
