From blood pressure to important statistics, here is what you need to know about men’s health

Hi. I'm Dr. Mike Roizen with five-- count them, five-- simple ways to lower your blood pressure
and make yourself younger. A healthy veggie-rich diet and a regular exercise program are great starts.
So are these other five choices you can make. One, turn it down. In one study, the louder the noise got in an assembly plant,
the higher the blood pressure of the workers rose. Use earplugs to drop your systolic blood pressure
by five points. And don't use that iPod, tablet, or cell phone at greater than two-thirds the maximum volume.
Two, forgive. Your blood pressure goes down when your empathy goes up, Three, one of my favorites, get a massage.
In one study, it took pressure down by 10 over six. That makes your real age over three years younger.
What's not to like about a massage? Four, look at the half full side. People who are more hopeful and optimistic and enjoy life
have a lower blood pressure. And this is another one what's not to like about-- five, more sleep. People who get five or fewer hours of sleep a night
are twice as likely as people who sleep seven to eight hours to have high blood pressure.

I think for most men, stress comes from life, and it's an inevitable part of life. What I encourage all my male patients to do
is get an annual physical every year. That way you can do preventative health care and see if they have any diseases.
And if they do, then you can treat them. The second part is that you would focus on diet and exercise. Exercise is a great way to de-stress, and if you exercise,
you feel good about yourself. And the other part of that is you'll probably get a good night's sleep, which is very good for stress.
And then finally, I tell patients you have to de-plug when you come home from work. So if you're spending dinner with your family,
turn off the TV. Turn off your cell phone. No games at the dinner table, and spend some quality time with your family.
Or especially if you have a spouse, spend some quality time with your spouse and try to really promote intimacy in your relationship.
That way when you go back to your daily life, you're more well balanced. And that's one way you can maintain happiness and be
