Why does SharecareRx display generics over brand names?

SharecareRx’s goal is to save you as much as possible on your prescription medications. Generic medications are generally less expensive than branded medications, which is why they are presented first in your results. If you want savings on a branded medication instead of the generic, then simply select the brand name option on the Prescription Details page. In order to obtain the generic at the pharmacy, you will need a valid prescription for the generic or your brand prescription must allow substitution. Ask your doctor to confirm if your prescription can be used for the generic or to write you a prescription for the generic. If you have a brand prescription that allows substitution, be sure to tell the pharmacy to fill the generic instead.
