What are the types of foot orthotics available?
Foot orthotics help support your arch and prevent your feet from rolling inward. In this video, Louis G. Pack, DPM, Author of The Arthritis Revolution, discusses the different types or orthotics available and how they can improve your foot health.

If you stand and your feet roll in a lot, when you stand on an orthotic, that foot should be just as straight
as it is when you're sitting. [MUSIC PLAYING]
Many people purchase different types of orthotics, and there are so many types available.
Some people just need something that's soft and cushy that they stick in their shoe in place of the inner sole that's in there for more shock
absorption and more cushioning. You may have people that have severe pronation or rolling into the foot and actually need
a fully custom orthotic. There are a number of important issues here. And one is that you really don't know what you're buying.
You really don't know what you're getting unfortunately. There's no standardization. The important thing for you, as a consumer, to understand
is that the word orthotic means vertical or erect coming from the Greek. And what that means in lay terms is
that, if you stand and your feet roll in a lot, when you stand on an orthotic, that foot should be just as straight as it
is when you're sitting and not roll in when you're standing.
If the orthotic is not doing that, it's not optimally aligned. Orthotics are expensive.
But if you get an orthotic that's optimally aligned, it's well worth the value.
