[MUSIC PLAYING] After a traumatic event ends, we can see post-traumatic stress disorder. And we don't diagnose that until one month after the event
ends because it's totally normal to experience some symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder in the immediate aftermath of a traumatic event.
After a child experiences a traumatic event, we'll see acute stress disorder in the early stages
after the traumatic event. So that's about the first month-- a few days to the first month after a traumatic event.
After that-- one month after a traumatic event ends, we can see post-traumatic stress disorder. And we don't diagnose that until one month after the event
ends because it's totally normal to experience some symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder in the immediate aftermath of a traumatic event.
We might, also, see an adjustment disorder, which is actually, a strong reaction to a significant stressor,
but not necessarily something as traumatic as an injury or a death. [AUDIO LOGO]
