So how do I find a genetic counselor for genetic disorders. So here at North Shore University Health System,
we have many genetics professionals on staff. So the first step is to contact one of the departments that can help you decide which department may
be preferential to being seen. For example, some go to prenatal genetics, some go to the adult genetics, some
go to the pediatric genetics. By contacting us, we can help triage to let you know who you should see to be most
efficient for the evaluation. For our patients who have family members who want to be evaluated who may not live in the Chicagoland area,
we have ways of identifying genetic counselors in other parts of the country where we can refer services.
This is usually done through the National Society of Genetic Counselors, through their website, where you can put in,
find a genetic professional based on a zip code search function.
