Layla shares the often-overlooked realities faced by those living with atopic dermatitis.
Transcript
You know that feeling when you wake up in the morning, and your eyes are dry and puffy and itchy, and they hurt?
A hard day with atopic dermatitis is where I wake up in the morning, and I can immediately feel my dry, flaky skin on my eyelids,
and my hands are burning, and my eyelids are burning. It feels so embarrassing. It feels like I don't even want to go out in public.
I just want to put the covers over my head and just hide for the rest of the day until my flare-up goes away.
I know that it's a struggle to even get out of the bed and look at yourself in the mirror. If you're having a hard day with atopic dermatitis,
and you feel like I did, you just want to hide under the covers, I would urge you to not do that. It can be so freeing to just embrace your eczema.
Treat it as best you can, and make sure that you have lotion and a good prescription. Just do the things that you would normally do.
